This is a follow up to this.

Just caught this on the YouTube. Nice to hear what's going on, but Paul did seem a wee bit harsh on the coding manager, Colin Shannon (if he was actually being serious). I kinda started feeling bad for the guy, but then I remembered that buggy code makes me feel bad too! :P

Basically, there is a piece of code that addresses the situation of a tie in a public quest with the Vegas loot system (aka "the lunatic tie code"). It works fine in normal public quests, though it is rarely ever called. Unfortunately, when they moved the Vegas loot system over to keeps in RvR, well, the code became dominant, which is what is screwing things up. The code was never meant to make it to release, but it somehow snuck in. That's the gist of it anyway.

It will be fixed "soon!" My guess is the 1.1 patch (because I saw it in the patch notes...).

He's what Mark Jacobs had to say in response to this video/situation:
Folks,

Paul and Colin were trying to be funny. That's Paul's style and Colin is one of our most trusted, talented and valued guys. If they can poke a little fun at things...

And by the way, Paul also makes fun of himself and doesn't take himself too seriously (well, most of the time ).

Bugs happen, design errors happen and nobody's perfect. Well, except for some folks on the Internet who never make mistakes at their jobs and neither should anybody according to their posts.

A sense of humor is a wonderful thing and necessary, especially nowadays.

Mark

I've been guilty of the latter part of his comment, however, I don't think I've ever been too unreasonable. Made a mistake? Sure, it "bugs" me to wade through mistakes in my relaxation/gaming time but fix it and we're all good. I think people were getting extra edgy about this because they've been complaining about the keep contribution issue for about a month now and this is the first time we've officially heard a peep about it.

I'm glad we finally did! :)
